Cyclocross is intense cross country bike racing. Races consist of numerous laps on a short paved course, wooded trails, grass, steep hills, and obstacles and are usually held in the fall and winter.
When riders get to a barrier, they sling their bikes over their shoulders, jump the barrier and remount their bike. Laps are normally 1.5 miles in length.
